ELMONT, N.Y. – Recent allowance winners White Flag and Blacktype are likely headed back to stakes company, trainer Christophe Clement said Thursday. On Wednesday, White Flag won a third-level allowance race by 2 1/4 lengths, running seven furlongs in 1:20.59 while earning a 95 Beyer Speed Figure. It was his first victory since he took the Allied Forces Stakes here last September. “I thought he was very impressive yesterday,” Clement said. “He looked like a winner every step of the way.” Clement said he would consider running White Flag in the Lure at Saratoga on Aug. 4 or a stakes at Woodbine. On July 5, Blacktype won a one-mile allowance race here, earning a 92 Beyer. That was his first win since taking the Grade 2 Knickerbocker here last fall. Clement said the Lure or the Grade 3 Oceanport Stakes on July 29 at Monmouth could be next for Blacktype. “He loves cut in the ground,” Clement said. “I want to keep him fresh for the fall.”
