Clement hits $100 million in earnings

ELMONT, N.Y. – Trainer Christophe Clement over the weekend became the 15th trainer in North America to surpass the $100 million mark in purse earnings.
Clement had many runners throughout North America over the weekend, highlighted by Red Vine’s victory in the Majestic Light Stakes at Monmouth Park.
Clement, 49, recorded his first North American victory at Belmont Park in October 1991.
“Great owners, fast horses, wonderful staff,” Clement said. “Very grateful. I’m 49 years old. Hopefully, there’s more to come.”
Entering Monday’s racing, Clement’s horses had earned $100,062,082. He had 1,563 winners out of 7,933 starters.
Clement trails Allen Jerkens on the trainers’ earnings list by about $3 million.
The next trainer in line to top the $100 million mark is the California-based John Sadler, who entering Monday had earnings of $98.3 million.
