Clear Sailing returns in allowance

Clear Sailing is one of seven stakes winners who will meet Sunday at Louisiana Downs in a $50,000 optional claimer at a mile on the turf. The race drew eight fillies and mares. Clear Sailing will be making her turf debut following a fifth-place finish to Zardana in the $192,000 New Orleans Ladies at Fair Grounds on March 13.

During the New Orleans meet, Clear Sailing won her maiden, an allowance, and the $58,000 Pelleteri. She is by Belmont Stakes winner Empire Maker, who gets 6 percent debut turf winners and 13 percent winners overall on the grass. Clear Sailing's dam is from the female family of turf stakes winner Miswaki.

Other stakes winners in the fifth race Sunday include Hotlantic, Mayhaw, and My Spanx.
