Classy Act comes to Delta Downs in search of a stakes win

Classy Act invades from Kentucky for the $100,000 Treasure Chest on Friday night at Delta Downs. She is part of a field of 10 for the one-mile race for fillies and mares. Others set to start include stake winners Special Blessing, Mariah’s Galaxy, Shes Our Fastest, and Pinup Girl.
Classy Act has a clear mission Friday.
“We’re trying to get her a stakes win,” said Joe Sharp, who trains Classy Act for Carl Moore. “She’s been a bridesmaid a couple of times.”
Classy Act last raced Sept. 21, running second in the $75,000 Pink Ribbon, a seven-furlong race run around two turns at Charles Town. Earlier in her career, she was second to eventual champion Monomoy Girl in the Grade 2 Rachel Alexandra at Fair Grounds and second in the Grade 3 Victory Ride at Belmont Park.
Sharp said one reason Classy Act is running in the Treasure Chest is because, like the Pink Ribbon, the race is being held on a smaller oval. The track is six furlongs at Delta.
“She seemed to handle the bullring at Charles Town, and we thought Delta would be a good spot,” he said.
“She’s naturally really fast.”
Classy Act will break from post 9 under Timothy Thornton.
