Classicstateofmind lead all the way in Roar Stakes

Classicstateofmind took them all the way in the $75,000 Roar at Gulfstream Park on Saturday. He paid $8.40 for his win over Capture the Time in the five-furlong dash on turf for 3-year-olds.
With Emisael Jaramillo riding, Classicstateofmind broke alertly from the inside post in the six-horse field and quickly opened up a clear lead over Capture the Time while posting a moderate quarter-mile time of 22.74 seconds. He picked things up, stopping the teletimer at 44.90 seconds at the half-mile mark, while holding 1 1/2-one length advantage over Capture the Time.
The margin diminished at the wire to a length, but the outcome never appeared to be in doubt. Capture the Time chased the winner the whole way, and easily held off No Nay Franklin, who ran evenly while finishing third.
The final time on a turf course rated firm was 56.70 seconds.
A Kentucky-bred colt by Classic Empire, Classicstateofmind is trained by Franciisco D’Angelo. He races for Maritza Weston and JFG Thoroughbreds.
It was the first stakes win for Classicstateofmind. The $46,035 winner’s share of the purse boosted his earnings to $120,915.
