A Classic Life wins Washington State Legislators Handicap

AUBURN, Wash. - A Classic Life got up in the final stride to win Sunday's $40,000 Washington State Legislators Handicap by a nose over Queenledo in 1:16 for 6 1-2 furlongs.

In a race that saw five different leaders, Queenledo went to the front at the eighth pole but fell just shy of withstanding the late charge of A Classic Life, who was ridden by Ricky Frazier. It was the sixth Emerald Downs victory from only seven local starts for A Classic Life, a 4-year-old daughter of Sky Classic who races for owners Mike and Amy Feuerborn. A Classic Life paid $10.80 to win as the third choice in a field of 10 fillies and mares and earned $22,000, bringing her earnings $157,602 from six wins in 13 starts. She has won stakes in each of her three Emerald Downs campaigns for trainer Grant Forster.
