Classic of Course returns home to Gulfstream Park for the $95,000 Proud Man a more mature 2-year-old after a trip to New York, and his experience level could serve him well Saturday. The Proud Man and its counterpart for 2-year-old fillies, the $95,000 Sharp Susan, highlight an 11-race card. Both stakes will be run at six furlongs on dirt. Classic of Course is part of a field of eight that includes five runners that have either had just one start or are making their debuts. He will get good support alongside fellow two-time starters Joey Muscles and I’mbiggerthanilook. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! Join DRF Bets. Classic of Course last raced June 6 at Saratoga, finishing fourth in the $150,000 Tremont. The start came after he won his debut by 6 1/2 lengths in a maiden special weight May 3 at Gulfstream. “In the Tremont, he got caught wide,” co-owner and trainer Patrick Biancone said. “He ran all right, but not as good as we were hoping, anyway. “It was his first trip. The good thing is we sent him to Saratoga. He was a baby, and you know, with the experience and everything, he came back here a nice boy. So, that is good.” Biancone races Classic of Course with Amy E. Dunne. The horse worked five furlongs in 1:00.40 over a good track Aug. 5 at Palm Meadows for his first start in more than two months Saturday. “He’s a Florida-bred,” Biancone said. “We decided to keep him for the [Florida Sire] series that starts in September. We gave him a break, a few days at the farm to relax, and he’s come back great. “We’re happy with the way he’s worked, and I think we look all right in that race.” Classic of Course will break from post 6 under Emisael Jaramillo. The tactics will be left to the jockey, Biancone said. “We have a good rider and we’ll go from there,” he said. I’mbiggerthanilook will break from the rail after wiring a maiden special weight field in his second start June 30. Drayden Van Dyke has the mount for trainer Jose Pinchin. I’mbiggerthanilook owns the field’s best Beyer Speed Figure, a 74. Joey Muscles earned a 72 Beyer for his stalking win in a maiden special weight July 7. It came in his second start, and Jose Morelos retains the mount for trainer Jena Antonucci. First-time starter Rafid is a son of Into Mischief by a Group 3-winning mare and was supplemented to the Proud Man. ◗ Win N Your In should start as a strong favorite in the Sharp Susan, which drew seven fillies. She was a 7 1/2-length maiden special weight winner July 6, and the Beyer of 79 that she earned is tied for third highest among all 2-year-old fillies this year in North America. Carlos David trains the daughter of Win Win Win. She is a half-sister to Miss Auramet, a multiple stakes winner of more than $600,000. Miguel Vasquez has the mount from post 4 for Troy Johnson and Maritza Weston. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
