Claiming Crown: Deadline for trainers to register is Friday

Friday is the deadline for trainers to register for the 2012 Claiming Crown, which will be run Dec. 1 at Gulfstream Park. The registration, which costs $100, makes trainers eligible to nominate horses to the Claiming Crown before the Nov. 9 deadline. Supplemental nominations and entries will be taken on Nov. 28.

The 14th edition of the Claiming Crown will be run at Gulfstream Park for the first time. It will be held on opening day of the 2012-2013 meeting. The Claiming Crown comprises seven races worth a total of $850,000, with purses for each race ranging from $100,000 to $200,000.
