City Zippin, Comedy Show to Davidson’s Tracks-N-Time in Michigan

City Zippin, a multiple allowance winner, has been retired from racing and will stand the 2016 breeding season at Davidson’s Tracks-N-Time in Midland, Mich., joining Comedy Show and Zulu Magic on the farm’s stallion roster. All three will all stand for private treaties.

A 4-year-old son of City Zip, City Zippin retires with four wins in 14 starts for earnings of $100,130. The colt raced his entire career at Thistledown for owner Charlie Williams and trainer Sandra Adkins, with three of his four wins coming in allowance company. He broke his maiden by 17 1/2 lengths in an Ohio-registered maiden special weight.

“He’s had a nice racing career,” said Cindy Davidson of Davidson’s Tracks-N-Time. “Hopefully he can put some nice babies on the ground.”
Bred in Ohio by Langsem Farm, City Zippin is out of the winning Pleasant Colony mare Flirting, who is the dam of four winners from five foals to race, including stakes-placed Small Town Flirt.

His extended family includes Grade 3-placed Intrigued and Morant Bay, as well as stakes winners Enticed, Unbridled Time, Heavenliness, Conjuress, Hiho Heaven, Alce Canadense, and War Charm.

“I think he’s going to be exciting for Michigan,” Davidson said. “The whole thing for us is to have this Michigan racing program turn itself around, and if we can be part of it, we want to be part of it. We were tickled to get such a phenomenal horse with such a nice race record.”

Comedy Show, a 15-year-old son of Distorted Humor, will return to Davidson’s Tracks-N-Time for 2016 after spending the past four seasons at Three Point Farm in North East, Pa. He began his stud career at Davidson’s farm in 2007, and remains property of a syndicate including the farm’s owners.

“People over the past year or so have asked about Comedy Show, so it’s nice that we’re going to keep him here at the farm,” Davidson said. “He actually went out there in February and comes back here and spends July through February with us. He’s had some nice runners, and we’re just hoping we can move him along in that direction.”

The farm also stands Zulu Magic, a 10-year-old son of Johannesburg whose first foals will be 2-year-olds of 2016. He was Michigan’s most active stallion in 2015 according to The Jockey Club’s Report of Mares Bred, covering 18 mares.
