Churchill jockeys heading for Fair Grounds, Turfway, Gulfstream

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Churchill jockey colony will disperse, as usual, to various other tracks when the meet ends Nov. 29. A handful of riders have already left for Fair Grounds, which starts its meet on Thanksgiving Day, with top jockeys such as Florent Geroux, James Graham, Brian Hernandez Jr., and Adam Beschizza scheduled to soon join them in New Orleans.
Others such as Corey Lanerie and Rafael Bejarano will ride at Turfway Park until sometime before Oaklawn Park starts Jan. 22. Ricardo Santana Jr. and Joe Talamo will take time off prior to Oaklawn. Julien Leparoux and Robby Albarado are headed to Gulfstream Park, which starts Dec. 2, while still others plan to ride through the winter at Turfway, including Chris Landeros, Edgar Morales, and Chantal Sutherland.

◗ Nominations are out for the last six stakes of the meet, with Code of Honor and By My Standards being among the likely starters in the Grade 1 Clark on Nov. 27. Entries for the Falls City and Cardinal on Thanksgiving Day will be drawn Saturday.
