Spot Play

BATTLE HARDENED (#5, 7-2) ships up from Fair Grounds where he set solid two turn fractions before yielding to odds-on Mylute in the lane; cuts back to one turn, draws ideally and picks up Napravnik.-Chuck Kuehhas

Spot Plays

QUITE EXPLOSIVE (#6, 5-1) The feats of Gettem Up Girl have been quite admirable this winter, but how many can a horse win in a row? Seems like this 7-panel distance might be a tad long for a mare whose strength has been running down the speed in shorter races; paradoxically, a stretchout doesn’t always favor such a style. Let’s snub her (for top-of-ticket, anyway) and go with the Werner-trained Quite Explosive, who should benefit from her latest at Kee and shows nice efforts over the local surface. – Marty McGee

Vulnerable Favorite

GETTEM UP GIRL (#4, 1-1) has a solid late kick and rides a four-race win streak but she lands in a race with a decided lack of early pace; her run of luck -- which has certainly helped, in that all four wins were via photos -- may come to an end here. -Kenny Peck

Live Longshot

VINDICATION NOW (#6, 12-1) doesn't compare with the top contenders in here in terms of Beyers but he has put in some very nice works since that last score, which has proven to be a key race; worth using in all slots at the 12-1 ML price.-Kenny Peck

Spot Play

MARLENE’S LOVE (#1, 10-1) After an inauspicious start to her career, this filly named for the late Marlene Wigginton (longtime CD backstretcher) has actually become pretty useful, winning a couple races while also learning the ropes of the racing game. Is spotted a touch higher ($30k) than what’s become comfortable for her, but still, an N3L is an N3L is an N3L, and a crafty inside trip is liable to put her right in the thick of things late. – Marty McGee
