Churchill Downs Racing Club named New Owner of the Year

The Churchill Downs Racing Club has been named the 2018 New Owner of the Year, OwnerView has announced.
The award, presented by Fasig-Tipton, honors a new Thoroughbred owner who has been successful in the sport and has had a positive impact on the industry. The Racing Club will be honored during the fifth Thoroughbred Owner Conference, scheduled for Oct. 30-Nov. 1 in Louisville, Ky.
The Churchill Downs Racing Club, which provides an entry-level view into racehorse ownership via a low single-time cost, was founded in 2016, with the creation of two horse syndicates with 200 members each. One of those initial offerings became the group's flagship horse, Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Warrior's Club.
Since its inception, the Racing Club has campaigned eight different horses through six different groups. Overall, more than 1,000 individuals have participated, and more than 50 individuals have gone on to deepen their involvement in Thoroughbred ownership.
“We are extremely proud and thankful for the honor of being awarded New Owner of the Year,” Churchill's Gary Palmisano Jr. said in a press release. “It has been an amazing journey for all of our members, and it is extremely exciting to be able to bring so many new people into Thoroughbred ownership. It has been extremely rewarding knowing that over 50 of our members have made the next step in ownership in some form.”
OwnerView is a joint effort spearheaded by The Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association to encourage ownership of Thoroughbreds and provide accurate information on trainers, public racing syndicates, the process of purchasing and owning a Thoroughbred, racehorse retirement, and owner licensing.
The New Owner of the Year Award has been previously presented to Charles and Susan Chu, Sol Kumin, and LNJ Foxwoods.
