Spot PlayHOOTIE PIE (#6, 8-1) couldn’t quite keep up & stuck in between going 5fs in career debut during Sept. meet at CD. Barn almost never hits with 1st-timers. Three works since. Mud pedigree on a rainy day. - Marcus Hersh

Spot PlayOUR DOUBLE PLAY (#7, 6-1) comes off a disappointing effort at Charles Town but that race could be considered a throw-out, as he never made the lead there, and a two-turn sprint is probably just not his game; he's widest of seven here but he may be able to shake loose and control the fractions in this relatively paceless event. -Kenny Peck Spot PlayBULL DOZER (#4, 3-1) this 13-time winner is in sharp form, having just won at Keeneland on the Poly, and is likely even better on dirt; won at Churchill in the slop during the spring meet and may catch such conditions again. – Byron King
Vulnerable FavoriteBOURBON COURAGE (#2, 9-5)is the class of the race but is returning from a layoff at a 7 ½-furlong distance shorter than what he prefers; this race simply has the look of a prep for something bigger down the road, like the Clark. – Byron King BOURBON COURAGE is the best horse in the race, & I like him, but his 1st start since May 3 is likely to come on sloppy track. He’s going to be outrun early from rail & get covered in slop, the opposition is decent, and things might get dicey for players taking a short price. - Marcus Hersh
