Churchill Downs: DRF Plus handicapping report for May 17, 2014
Race 1 |
Spot PlayGREY BY YOU (#5, 2-1): We had this one tabbed at 14-1 on opening night, so it’s not like we’re suddenly climbing on a bandwagon. Instructive to know, however, that that was no fluke, as this gray guy met some good ones at OP and had some nice back-form to suggest a breakout was possible. Meeting just 4 foes today, a repeat is on tap. – Marty McGee

Spot PlayRUN AWAY'S SIS (#3, 4-1) is going to be tough to catch if she's able to shake loose, as expected, against this short field; he weakened in the late stages in his first start vs. winners but that was a wicked, contested pace he set there. -Kenny Peck

Spot PlayMIO D’ORO (#7, 3-1): Breakthrough victory two-back at GP was the signal this guy is finally ready to get it together, regardless of that Poly toss at Kee last out. Draws very favorably to the outer as one of the main speeds while on this slight stretchout with the ever-underrated Rocco taking the call; faces a suspect bunch; backing with confidence. – Marty McGee
