Spot PlayLOOKN MIGHTY FAST (#4, 3-1): On paper, this race looks wide-open, but on his best day, this dude seems far superior to the rest. Takes a subtle drop for a barn that came alive midway through the meet; careful rating from C-Lan can land an overdue score. – Marty McGee

Vulnerable FavoriteYes, CALBO (#1, 7-5) was a close second in his latest for $7,500 and now he’s back in for just a nickel, but that was just a 3-horse field in which the winner gave the other two a head start. This race came up pretty salty for the level (it’s probably because trainers are just dropping in at the end of the meet), and the one-hole is no bargain. Definitely one to take a stand against, at least for the on-top horizontals. – Marty McGee Closer Looks >> |

Spot PlayLong-layoff 2nd-time starter FAWAAREK (#12, 10-1) clearly can be readied for good showing off works; she was smart winner of career debut in 2-turn KEE turf mile last fall. Pedigree all about this 9fs trip. Sharp works for good layoff barn.- Marcus Hersh

Spot PlayTAPALITE (#11, 3-1): It’s hard to overestimate how much one race can do for a young horse like this, and with benefit of that June 8 debut, this filly might well get a measure of redemption for that even-money disappointment. Draws very favorably to the outer and stands to be a decent price, given how many “good things” are apt to be whispered pre-race. – Marty McGee
