Race 1 Sammy's Bandit Stretches out in his return to a venue at which he ran well against better back in the spring; maybe the hood removal helps him get back on track and he did run well going long in Arkansas this past winter; price should be ok to give him a look.   Cocodrie Offered little first out on the Hawthorne lawn and now he'll give dirt a shot; barn does a nice job with its runners who have had a race as well as those switching surfaces and this guy is kin to 3 main track winners in the states so if he has any ability he should show it on dirt.   Who Is He First part of the coupling boasts some slow drills for his unveiling for a barn that's won just once this year; sire is 0 for 2 with his debut runners and the dam's 2 wins both came going long over wet tracks prior to dropping foals who were a combined 0 for 13 on the track.   Alphabet Jeblar Barn's other half looked bad while beating just one runner home in each of his 2 starts on different surfaces than he'll tackle here; maybe the move to dirt helps shake him up some, but his recent drills don't suggest that's too likely to happen; have to pass on this longshot who has the smae pilot named as his entrymate.   Best Request Drops in price for his return from the freshening while turning back off the solid beaten chalk placing first time for a tag; coly has experience at the one turn mile trip he'll tackle here he did show some improved early interest prior to the brief break; barn hasn't had a very good year, but he's a contender in this spot.   Dyker Beach He's had plenty of chances and now he'll drop in for a tag for the initial time after failing to complete the course in the local slop; gelding did earn solid numbers prior to that one and he'd be competitive if he were able to get back to them here, but given what happened last time and the drop in company there's certainly reason to be wary.   Neidermeyer Tries dirt for the first time after again showing some early interest at the level at Keeneland; he may be able to settle some on the turn back here and off the pace tactics did help him get involved late on the drop to claimers at Kentucky Downs; price potential warrants him some exotics consideration.   Paciencia Y Fe Runner up in his last 2 with cheaper makes his local return and though that debut effort here was pretty poor, it did come sprinting; gelding's numbers are a little light and he may not get the pace he'd appreciate in front of him here, but maybe he arrives on the scene late for a share.   Won'tualwayswonder Returns from the freshening to try a one turn mile that may suit him well; he'll drop while remaining above the level of the outfit's claim this summer in New York and his sprint try for them 2 back there earned a number that fits quite well in here; class relief makes him dangerous.   Keystone Cop Showed marked improvement on the class drop and surface switch at Indiana Downs in his second career start; gelding draws a nice tracking post for the turn back and that can help him secure a good spot in a field without a lot of early lick; last weekend's local drill suggests he remains on his toes for his first try here and with just a couple of starts under his belt he has a right to improve quickly; giving him the nod to beat these to the wire. Race 3 Majestic Melresa Hung wide in the educational debut; both of sire's wins were sprints; all 4 of dam's wins came routing, she banked nearly $225K and won twice at 2; both siblings won; one took debut at 2, top kin Ocean Bertie won twice, took a route, earned over $100K; seldom prefer runners in this league after they lost for a tag.   Please Explain Local debut solid, maybe she just hated the synthetic last time; superstar sire carried speed the Classic distance; dam was unraced; both siblings won but not at 2; top kin Nicklaus Way won 4 times, took one route, banked over $100K; got a feeling we have not seen the best of this miss.   My Dear Regina Miss was inching toward the winner in a solid debut; sire proved stamina taking BC Juvenile; dam 0 for 3; no juvenile success in the tree but kin Ukons Pic took several routes; top career Beyer the resume; that should put her in the thick of it late if she can repeat that figure.   Courageous Julie Pushed the slow splits, just could not carry on with the momentum; dam was unraced; both siblings won, one took debut at 2, both were sprint only; with the Tiznow blood on the bottom, the stamina just may shine through here; rates glance at upset.   Lady Marian Miss was pretty much baked when she walked out of the gate; unbeaten sire carried speed successfully; dam's lone win was a route as older horse; lone half sis took one sprint as older horse; needs a rebound effort.   Restoretheearth Put it Back about 14% with juvenile firsters in a 238-runner sample; sire could run some, was 2nd in best start at 2, earned over $200K, was sprint only; dam succeeding routing on grass; the sibling that won cashed sprinting as older horse; would have liked to have seen some local drills.   Skittle Bomb Never kicked from the marooned slot; dam's lone win was a sprint as older horse; the sibling that won thrice in Japan did so sprinting as older runner; fit enough to at least drill a couple of times since the debut; has some things to iron out.   Perfect La Comete Had the valid excuse of the slop in the opener, could have sulked after the slow start in last she tried till the end; sire was a Grade 1 winner routing on grass; dam was unraced; there is no route success in the family but kin Munnings took debut at 2, won 3 Grade 2s, banked nearly $750K; homebred has a right to move forward here.   Bylia Not much to go on with 2 dull efforts; 6th finisher in last took a $50K maiden claimer next out and the 9th finisher took a MSW at Hawthorne with a 64 Beyer; 4 of sire's 5 wins came routing; all 7 of stakes winning dam's scores were routes; the sibling that won cashed twice sprinting as a juvenile; been a bad actress at the break so far and could be compromised by the post. Race 4 Annabird Coupled with Franky and Jane; no factor when 5th in a spot like this here Sept. 27, but in her defense she had traffic issues that day; came back to be a better 3rd vs. some toughies at KEE Oct. 16; appears a better filly now after her spring/summer vacation, though whether she's better enough to handle some tough gals here is another matter.   She's On Parade Sire Fusaichi Pegasus gets over 6% first time turf winners, over 9% overall turf winners, according to DRF sire stats; sire won 6 of 9 for $1.9 million, won G1 Ky. Derby, 3 G2s including the Wood, 2nd in G1 Preakness, never tried turf; unraced dam's only foal it JKL's Legacy (1 win, $68K, SP, never tried turf); came out firing to win her first 2 starts, but those came in the summer/fall of 2012 and she hasn't been seen since (over a year); so, not only is it first time turf but there's a long layoff to overcome; at least trainer Catalano does well off a long layoff like this (20%).   Gamay Noir Only a nose behind Moonwalk in a race similar to this at KD 2 months ago; found soft turf and stakes foes a bit too much to handle at IND but she's down a peg, has worked very nicely 3 times since and a reeturn to her prior form including that big win on turf at IND Aug.21 gives her a shot.   Franky and Jane Coupled with Annabird; last wasn't pretty at all but you can be forgiving; remember, not only did it come after 6 months off but she was fractious in the gate and hopped at the start to get away poorly, losing all chance; of course, she was 53-1 so not much was expected anyway; nice to see no panicky drop and not another layoff but even being forgiving about that last run still means she needs to find a few lengths to be a player in a spot like this.   Ocean Bertie Not far at all behind Annabird when 4th in a tough N2X at KEE last month and prior to that she gamely led all the way to beat N1X foes on this course going slightly longer; return here may help and she's got versatility, too; yes, she led all the way to win that Sept. 13 race here but note prior good efforts from OFF the pace as well.   I'm Your Luv Found that stakes at KEE too much to handle last month; this is surely a better level and in her race prior she gamely won on the KD sod; even so, she's just 1 for 9 on turf and that win came at 1 5/16 miles so she's shortens up quite a bit today; at least broke her maiden at this distance on KEE's main track a year ago but we're not on Polytrack and could be she's better when she gets more furlongs than she gets today.   Strong Willed Lady You have to go back to May 2012 to find her last win; the good news is it came on THIS course at this type of trip; and while she's winless in 11 starts since there are at least a number of good efforts showing, including a decent 2nd at this level here last time out (Sept. 27); in fact, her form has perked up a bit in recent months so maybe that's a sign she's ready to peak.   Every Way She's G3 SP on turf as recently as 2 months ago so she's got some quality; tossed in a clunker in another G3 at KEE last time out (Oct. 18) but it's the drop can help and it's nice to see no panicky class drop since; Stidham removes blinkers and while it's her first time here she's already handled AP sod, RET sod and FG turf so odds are she'll handle this place; it is first time vs. elders, though.   Moonwalk Far outside post is no bargain and she hasn't won now in about 13 months; the good news, though, is she's still run some decent races this year, all at about this level; comes off a nice 2nd at KD Sept. 28 and the gal she chased (Sky High Lady) came right back to win a stakes at WO and then run 3rd in a G3 there, too; freshened since and she's got the tactical speed to be in a good spot from the start and also avoid getting hung out to dry on that first turn. Race 5 Emma's Holy Bee She returns to Churchill Downs for the first time in a while, and she placed over the main track in her one local start; has the speed to hold her position from the rail, and could share with a flashback to some of her efforts from last season.   Livin Peace She makes a couple of notable moves; she returns to the straight claiming ranks after a series of starts against steeper rivals; she also removes blinkers following a one-race experiment in the equipment; has appeal from a class standpoint.   Pistolpackinpenny She's making a meaningful class move as she has been plying her trade against steeper; she's also back at Churchill Downs, where she has run well on the main track in the past; exits a quick race, and is making her second straight start at a sprint distance; looks like a strong fit.   Chelsea Road She was third last out in a race that has become a key one; the runner-up returned in her next start to take a $35K claimer at Bel, with a Beyer Figure of 78, and the 10th-place finisher, Mighty Reward, a $20K claimer at Bel, with a Beyer of 70; makes first career start on dirt, a surface she is bred to handle well.   Evandear She's a class play as one who has seen steeper; also like that she has an age edge on a number of these as she is 4; can be closer to the pace than she found herself last time, when making a rare start on a synthetic surface; more than capable.   Caribbean Lady She should be razor-sharp for the six furlongs off a five-eighths of a mile start; has done her best work to date on the grass, but she is bred for dirt and worked sharply over the local strip the other morning when she went a half-mile in a bullet 47 seconds; yet another contender in a competitive field.   Distinct Affair She makes a couple of notable moves; for starters, she's returning to the claiming ranks after facing steeper rivals; she also is shortening up in distance and note both of her wins have come at this six-furlong distance; this will be her second start in blinkers.   St. Louie Slew She steps up in class off the claim; ran a solid fourth last out against the $20K crowd at Kee, and as a rule has been quite consistent; is back on dirt now and note she was a double-digit main track winner at Haw back in April; another who fits with these.   Silver Strike She gives up recency to all of these as she has not raced since June; however, she owns the field's best last-race Beyer Figure and has been flattered since her win last out; the fourth-place finisher from the race, Elusive Act, came back to take a $35K claimer at Sar with a Beyer Figure of 78, and the sixth-place finisher, My Princess Dawn, a $7,500 conditioned claimer at Ellis, with a Beyer Figure of 62; has seen steeper, and as a three-time winner has an experience edge on these. Race 6 Sheriff Curly Stalked the pace in the MSW-career debut on synthetic but had nothing to offer when the real running began finishing last; the CD-dirt workout for this was not very impressive while the trainer yields 6% winners with MSW-to-maiden-claiming starters.   Bern' James Bern Has not raced past 7F yet; sire only raced on turf going 0-for-3 in grass races at 1Mile or over; dam's only start was a 6th-place 5.5F turf finish; the winner from his debut posted an 86 Beyer speed figure in his next-out CD-68K stakes win while the 4th and 5th-place finishers graduated next out with 85-81 Beyers taking CD-HAW-MSW events.   Victory Colors Exits a field-best Beyer when outpunched in the lane after stalking the speed vs. quicker; the 2-back winner and runner-up posted 77-70 speed figures in next-out KEE-Grade 3 stakesand MSW wins; MSW-to-maiden claiming is considered the biggest-class drop in racing however his trainer is 0-for-9 since 2012 with this angle.   Tribal Message 29%-winning 2nd-start trainer suggests an improvement is on the way and has plenty of room to move forward; has not raced past 6F yet; sire never raced past 6F; dam never competed past 6.5F; showed zero run throughout on a synthetic surface when taking little betting money hoping 1st Lasix and dirt produce a better attempt; the KEE-workout for this was not inspiring.   Kowboy Boots Deserves a chance on fast footing catching wet-main tracks in 1st pair; has not raced past 6.5F yet; sire was a Grade 1-SW at 1 MIle on dirt; dam did not race longer than 6F on dirt but her 2 wins were both turf routes scoring longest victory at 1M and 16th.   Kodiak Syd Exits the 2 best finishes of career the latest was his 1st-ever exacta placement when removing blinkers for the 1st time; last looks better since beating the show and 9th-place finishers who both graduated next out with a 66 and 36 Beyers in MNR-MSW and CD-30K-maiden-claimers; 1-for-22 jockey-trainer combo and the fact that he steps up in claiming price off a loss are not good-win angles.   Crewman Sire was a Grade 1-dirt router and is 28-for-189 with 2-year-old debut starters; is the 1st foal out of an unraced dam; has been outworked in the mornings by the other 2 unraced starters entered for this   Zander Zone Sire captured 3 of 4 dirt routes including a 1M-CD 2002 maiden breaker; sire is 20-for-204 with 2-year-old debut starters; is out of an unraced dam who produced 5 winners from 6 other foals to race including 329K-earner SW City Number (18-for-71) who won all 18 races in sprints.   Finley's Sunrise 2nd-time out Beyer regression when beating 1 runner home 1st time over the track; displayed zero gate speed in both losses but raced better on a fast oval and was unable to handle wet footing locally; would be a complete surprise.   Black Fighter (AZE) Sire has no 2-year-old debut starters; on the race track went 1-for-2 in dirt routes a 2008-CD dirt graduate at 1M and 16th; is the 1st foal out of a dam who went 0-for-2; she did not finish better than 8th in 2-turf-route defeats. Race 8 T. R. Indy Quit early in her maiden voyage at Keeneland but subsequent workout activity is steady and upbeat; her sire won multiple G1 stakes and 1.23 million; the dam was unraced; this is her sole foal to make it to the starting gate.   Ireland Adds blinkers after being caught very wide in her comeback race last month; draws much more favorably now and can be a surprising presence with an alert getaway; shows average morning breezes of late.   Benny's Babygirl Newcomer was sired by G1 sprinter Benny the Bull who banked 2.35 million and whose offspring have won 3 of 12 debuts; the dam won 1 of 4 attempts and 14K; among the winning siblings is 117K earner Gulf Cat.   In My Time She hails from multiple G1 victor Scat Daddy who captured 1.33 million and whose progeny are 23 for 163 first time out; the dam was without victory in 4 attempts; winning siblings include 614K earner Dynamic Fun.   Little Ariel Beginner was sired by handicap star Devil His Due who won multiple G1s and3.92 million (his descendants have won 65 out of 776 initial starts); the dam never raced and there are no winning siblings to mention.   Euphrosyne Stayed on well when chasing the leader first time out; the sire won multiple G1s including the Blue Grass while earning 3.63 million; the dam won 3 of 19 and 86K; this is her only foal to compete; obvious true contender here.   Exchanging Glances Progeny of Exchange Rate, a G2 winner who earned 479K, have thus far scored in 61 out of 418 debuts; the dam won 2 of 11 and 62K; among the winning siblings is 65K earner Feelinbettertoday; steady gate breezes on view.   Katie O. Very fine maiden voyage last month when rallying strong; her sire won 1.08 million including G1 success; the dam was unraced; winning siblings include 56K earner Halon; excellent breeze at five-eighths recently adds to the appeal.   Kala Ryan Tough beat in her first run when nailed right at the wire but she got away with a fairly soft half-mile fraction in that try; her sire won 2 of 5 and 393K but was also twice G1 stakes-placed; the dam won 1 of 12 and 49K; sib to 328K earner Frazil.   Honor Graeme Latest a.m. drill was a distinct improvement; her sire won multiple G2s and 1.14 million; descendants of Graeme Hall have won 45 out of 277 initial races; the mom was unraced; sib to 101K earner Mafietta.   Nile Queen Her sire scored at the G1 level while earning a total of 1.63 million; descendants of Pioneerof the Nile have won 6 of 28 debuts; the dam won 2 of 9 and 98K; among the winning sibs is 25K earner Sweet Saturday.   Keep Crossing All recent workout activity has been from the gate; her sire won multiple G3s and 461K overall; offspring of Istan are only 1 for 45 first time out; the dam won 2 of 7 and 27K; among the winning sibs is 109K earner Same Cross. Race 9 Graceful Rage Sprint winner on CD dirt but her only start at today's distance was a badly-fading 8th in January at OP; exiting sprints figures to be part of the pace here but Not Again Nancye and Warm Breeze figure to gun from the gate also; the 3-back runner-up finisher posted an 88 Beyer speed figure in her next-out IND-optional-claiming win.   Kimberly Jean 3-0-0-0 record off the 4-back field-best Beyer performance at today's distance on GP-fast dirt; in her lone CD start 1 week shy of 1 year ago she rallied well vs. the winner who repeated in an OP-optional claimer with a 77 speed figure; the 2-back winner repeated in a DEL alw. with a 76 Beyer.   Two to Tango 1st Lasix and 1st time racing on dirt after posting up-and-down recent form the latest was her worst finish ever when favored then middle moving before badly beaten; enters off declining Beyers following her WO-maiden romp at longer.   Not Again Nancye Has not raced past 7F; sire was a Grade 2-stakes winner at 9F on dirt; dam won 2-of-7 dirt routes (56K); the stretchout today comes off last pair where she beat 1 runner home and posted the 2 lowest Beyers of her career; best races are racing on or near the lead which is where we expect her from the gate for this; know her early but unsure about late.   Tapit's World Huge-style change in last when breaking last of 11; her first 2 races were right on the pace but latest was a good sign that she can rally off the speed; beat the 2-back show runner a next-out 76 Beyer AP alw. winner; 3-back handled the runner-up finisher a next-out 66 speed figure AP-MSW victor.   Blue Violet Her best races are when forwardly placed like 3-back when romping to graduate; was badly overmatched since the diploma earner but is back to reality for this; hopes to sit just off the speed of Not Again Nancye and Warm Breeze before getting 1st run on the closers; capable-long layoff trainer adds to the appeal.   Keri This Day Lori 24th race was the charm graduating on syntheic without an exacta finish during career on fast dirt; exits a career-best Beyer when rallying from midpack but has a lot of questions to answer here facing winners for the 1st time and racing back on the main track   Warm Breeze Only win was on the lead and off latest wanted no parts of rating; beat the 2-back show runner who Beyered 71 in her next-out CD-MSW win then repeated in a CD alw. with an 80; the 3-back winner repeated in an ELP-optional claimer with a 79 speed figure; she has not fired in either of her synthetic-surface starts so willing to dimiss most recent a start she needed off the 48-day absence; seems the one to catch.   Spoonfulofsugar All 3 dirt losses were sprinting and owns his 2-lowest Beyers of career on the main track; the win rider takes Moon Angel for this off the synthetic-surface debut which was her graduation score; would be a complete surprise on the class raise.   Pebble Hill Late runner has stalked the speed in recent losses; 57 days between races while comes off the bench to race on conventional dirt for the 1st time; the 2-back runner-up finisher Beyered 80 in her next-out IND alw. win; 4-0-0-0 since the favored-grass unveiling win; a tough call.   Call Pat Has been in good form in recent races the latest represents a career-best Beyer while 2-back graduated on CD dirt at today's distance; had 51 days freshened up when graduating but is back in the gate today after just a 23-day break; late runner sees the win rider take Kimberly Jean for this.   Moon Angel Last-to-1st debut win upsetting 11 others as the win rider stays despite seemingly having other options; has plenty of upside; the main issue is she will race on dirt for the 1st time and has been working nicely on synthetic for her 1st start in 5 weeks; needs the speed to fall apart and would need to improve her Beyer to repeat. Race 10 Professor Midnight If you're looking for the best last race Beyer Speed Figure in here, you don't have to look any further, and he's run well enough in his six turf starts to suggest that he can keep it going while getting back over turf for this; his dam was a winner of 3 of 9 turf starts for 101k; Lanerie is a go-to rider for this barn.   Eu Bandolero Pedroza gets his share of live calls from this barn and it's a little interesting to see that this 1 1/8m event will be the shortest distance that he's competed at to date; he finished behind a couple of these in his latest outing, but he did attract wagering support, and note the trouble in his short comment.   Mister Gable Sire wins with approximately 7% of his turf starters and dam won once from 11 starts for 16k, including 1 of 7 turf starts for 13k; a couple of his workouts look okay and maybe the move to turf can prove to be a key.   March Reward Can't see any reason why this colt can't prove to be a player in this spot and like to see that he's shown the ability to run his race from on the pace and just off of the early lead; not going to argue with any one for looking favorably in this direction.   Federal Agent He ran a nice race the first time he ran over turf at the end of his 2-year-old year, but he is starting to look like the type that might hang around the maiden ranks for a while; not counting him out of it, but maybe a minor award is the ceiling.   Transcend 475k purchase sports decent overall form and he nearly got the job done in his latest outing at Woodbine while making just his second start over turf; feel that this Amerman-owned gelding is eligible to be ready for his best effort to date.   Mutasaawy Like to see that he's being returned to action on relatively normal rest for the first time since his second career start and also like to see the step forward he took along the Beyer Speed Figure scale in his latest outing while making his first start with Lasix.   Lay It Down Noble Causeway has been a below average influence as a turf sire, but this gelding hasn't run badly in his three turf attempts, and this Ramsey-owned runner is making his first start after a claim for a barn that scores well in that category.   Pernicious His career debut was an encouraging performance, the problem is, he ran that race well over a year ago; respect the fact that he has some natural ability to work with, but he obviously had a major setback since then; runner up from debut has since become a G3 winner over turf.   Prince of Spain This colt has a good deal of quality to his pedigree but he's been beaten by a number of today's rivals in his recent starts and he needs to dial it up a notch or two to prove to be the one in this spot.   Napa Valley (BRZ) He was beaten by today's rival Mutasaawy in his career debut, but that was a pretty decent effort for his first career start, and perhaps he can prove to be capable of better given a firmer turf to work over; can't count him out of it.   Teleconference Maybe he deserves another chance to show us what he can do racing over grass but he's going to need to perform much better than he did in his first two career starts over turf if he's to have a say in the outcome against these.   Ham I Am He needs to see a scratch from the main body of this race in order to draw in and he's yet to run a race that is anywhere near strong enough to suggest that he can threaten the top contenders in this spot; strictly an outsider.   Fast Flying Fist Sire wins with approximately 7% of his turf starters and stakes winning dam won 3 of 8 starts for 87k, and she didn't make a turf start; he's another sitting on the Also Eligible list who has yet to prove that he can handle competition of this caliber.   Hezro Respect the fact that this is a barn and rider that have teamed to win with 52 of 187 (28%) starters in 2013, but this gelding is yet another in here who will have to show up with a much sharper performance in order to contend.
