Race 1 Move the Chains Debuts for Ward who the past five years has a 22 percent strike rate with first-time starting 2-year-olds - 28% on this circuit; first-crop sire Eskendereya was going to be favored in the Kentucky Derby after he won the Grade 1 Wood Memorial by almost 10 lengths but was retired due to a leg injury; dam didn't win in 5 starts; 2 sibs, one winner who was stakes placed as a 2-year-old; rail could be an issue but there are only 5 horses in the field so Sanchez should be able to work out a trip; the pick.   Midnight Decision Not a bad effort in his debut at Keeneland and he figures to move forward with a race behind him; dam could run and 5 of her 7 foals are winners including Oblivious who was stakes placed as a 2-year-old; have a feeling a couple of the first timers are better but he has to be thrown into the mix.   Discreet Song Both starts were pretty ugly but it is possible he didn't care for the Polytrack surface at Keeneland; there are 7 winning sibs to report the best being $203K Lady Clare who won 6 routes and was stakes placed; $15K yearling might want more distance and he probably needs cheaper; passing.   Unbridled Graduate Magna Graduate 7/42 (17%) with first-time starting 2-year-olds; dam was unraced and her first foal by the same sire is an unraced 3-year-old; works just average but Asmussen doesn't usually turn his babies loose in the mornings and the past five years he has a 13 percent strike rate with first-time starting 2-year-olds; not out of the question.   Sky Bistro He appears to be well prepped by Casse who the past five years has won with 14 percent of his juvenile first-time starters; Sky Mesa roughly 17 percent as a debut sire; dam won her debut and the Grade 3 Arlington Washington Lassie as a 2-year-old; both sibs are winners including $174K 2-year-old stakes winner Coastline; big shot. Race 2 Queen Daenerys She hasn't really shown a lot in her three races but she is a half to three graded winners including Dreams Galore who won the Grade 1 Mother Goose and finished second in the Kentucky Oaks; it's possible she didn't care for the wet conditions in her latest; winner of her race two back couldn't keep up in the Grade 3 Honeybee in her next start but won a $50K optional race at Oaklawn April 4 and then finished third in a stakes at Prairie Meadows April 26; not out of the question.   Taylor Street 4-year-old has had her fair share of chances but most were going longer on turf and she ran a big race when she cut back to a sprint before heading to the bench; Wilkes can have them ready to roll coming off this type of layoff and if she comes back as good as she left she should be right there in a pretty weak race for this level.   Cozy Nicole First foal out of an unraced mare looked like she was going to do some damage in her latest at Keeneland but she got bumped around pretty good in the stretch; showed a lot of potential in her debut on the turf at the Fairgrounds and if she can handle the surface switch she could make a lot of noise in this spot; two solid works since she ran adds to her appeal and she could be the one they have to catch if she breaks on top; the pick.   State Visit She ran well over dirt when she debuted at Belmont last year so she shouldn't mind the surface switch following an even effort in her latest at Keeneland April 5; the winner romped and she came back to romp again in a $75K optional race here May 2; this gal worked a sharp half-mile here May 2 and could be sitting on a big effort in what is a much-easier spot; likely favorite is an obvious contender.   Cora Mesa She finished third when she debuted going 5-furlongs here in 2012 so she can sprint; mostly routes since then, though, and it's been a while since she ran; works are okay and the past five years Stewart has a 12 percent strike rate with horses coming back from a layoff of 180 days or more; prefer others. Race 3 Bern Legacy Her best race came on turf and it was a stakes; she gets her class from the bottom side as dam won 4 times on grass and earned over $350K; and she has a right to have a solid career as kin to stakes winner and near $400K earner Centrique; she may have just hated the synthetic last time; respect everything from this barn.   Oh Wise One Proven on grass, she may have been compromised by the outside slot in last; pedigree say she can mature with grace as sibling King Congie took a stakes, banked nearly $250K; she has shown versatility; toss anything from a 44% barn this meet.   Contessa B. Good Reward 5 for 46 with first-time turfers; sire won at 2, took G1 HOL Derby, banked over a million, won 4 times on grass; 2 for 21 dam won on grass once, banked over $100K; lone half bro lost only start; they were all together on the wire last time, sometimes a sign of just an ordinary race.   Brown Baggin It Big Brown 9 for 67 with first-time turfers; sire took only start at 2, won first two legs of the Triple Crown, banked over $3.6 million, never turfed; stakes placed 2 for 12 dam earned about $65K, was turf only; family is solid; all 8 siblings won; top earner Corey County was a triple winner on grass, banked nearly $170K; Feb. 1 winner repeated in a $28K NC allowance at Houston and then ran out of the money; needs very best.   Saturday Storms Handled rather easily in the grass outs, lone win was life and death in the smallish field; first time offered for a tag; you would figure it to be an all out go; needs a turn around.   Streethomealabama Connections thought enough of her to try the Grade 2, note her last grass outing was pretty solid; over 4 clear two back; anything close to a repeat of the Oaklawn fianle and she will be a handful.   Secret Garden Only a brief factor in her grass debut; fresh Lasix this time, trainer has spotted them just fine this year with limited starters; has some things to iron out. Race 4 Empire Taker Although he is one consistent check-earner, he has failed to do much running when negotiating this oval in the past; the Beyer he earned 2 back, however, has to be respected in light of the competition today; puzzling possibility.   Thunder's Rollin' Held on tenaciously in his latest showing and perhaps the cutting back of a furlong will help his cause; beaten favorite switches to Hernandez who has done well for these connections in the past; a softer early tempo is the key.   Greyfell Ran in to a talented group in his sole appearance here; well-versed at 7 furlongs, he should be within striking distance today; the workout regimen during the last month has shown steady progression; should land a share with patient ride.   Thunder Moon Crushed by some of these same rivals in his first run; his prolific sire won 1 of 2 and 33K while the dam won 2 of 9 attempts and 83K; this is her only foal to compete; generous odds assured and he will need to improve significantly.   Kilted Newcomer hails from G2 victor Exchange Rate who captured 479K and whose progeny have scored in 63 out of 442 initial starts; the dam won 5 of 18 and 323K; among the winning sibs is 103K earner Caraquista; even spacing to the work tab.   Act of Heroism Toss the first effort when he did not break cleanly and failed to recover thereafter; his sire won the Belmont Stakes and 1.98 million overall; the dam won 3 of 18 races (all victories in dirt routes) and 112K; this is her only foal to start.   Awesome Sky Takes a while to get into gear but is graded stakes placed over the course; all kinds of trouble 13 days ago when checking in fourth in a congested field; should earn a money finish if the early fractions are honest enough. Race 5 Poppy's Dream Drops in price for her first start on dirt while moving to the fence off a wide trip from an outside draw at Keeneland; maybe the new Lasix stimulates her some, but the barn's had little recent luck off the angle; class relief is her best attribute and figures to make her a player in this weak gathering.   Wonderful Miss Bea Beaten last out chalk drops in half in claiming price while also trying dirt for the first time today; filly has shown a little bit of early interest which should only help her in this spot and she did blow out ok on the training track last week; from close range she could prove to be the main danger in a field lacking a lot of alternatives.   Duo Ships up from Florida after earning a career best number while getting up for the place against cheaper at this trip; lack of lick figures to leave her with a good amount to do in the lane while catching a field that doesn't contain a lot of early lick; prefer to limit her use to underneath in exotics.   Truly Royal Stretches back out after failing to mount any type of threat in a troubled run while making her local return; she's yet to hit the board in 8 career starts and finished well behind some of today's foes last out; her recent numbers don't suggest she's much of a fit here.   U S Mint Offered little in her 2 synthetic tries against MSWs earlier this season and now she'll try dirt and older foes, both for the initial time; her unraced dam dropped a handful of winners but none of them scored going long on the main track; just watching her in this spot.   Fab Autumn Girl Hood goes on for the stretchout in her second local spin after finishing a length off the last out runner up when returns in this spot as well; the 2 turn spin in her Tampa Bay Downs finale was improved and maybe she'll take another step forward second time at that trip, but she's another who figures best used underneath in exotics.   Littlebitcranky She's lost 37 times and now she'll stretch back out to 2 turns which hasn't treated her particularly well; thought she'd show a little more early while trying the flat mile last time, but she just doesn't have any speed and though she owns numbers that fit here, it won't make it easy for her; consider.   Tohaveandtohold Gets Leparoux for her second career start after losing all shot at the break of her Keeneland well bet debut run; sophomore did make an impressive late kick to get up for third money for a barn that hits at a nice clip with its second out runners; catches a weak bunch on the drop and given a clean break could prove tough to hold off, but with these connections at the helm she's sure to take plenty of money again. Race 7 Big Air May be the speed of the speed going 1st time in a maiden claimer from MSW considered to be the biggest-class drop in racing; has to beat Shirota out of the gate then hold the closers off in deep stretch; last-out OP runners through May 11 have won 24 races at the current-CD meet 2nd only to last-out KEE runners; the 2-back runner-up and show finishers posted 81-79 Beyer speed figure in next-out FG-CD-MSW wins; the debut winner repeated in a MTH-Grade 3 stakes with a 77.   Big Favorite Freshened up for CD; the barn's winner this meet was with a runner also following a layoff; the show and 6th-place finishers from last both Beyered 63 in next-out PRM-MSW and IND-10K-maiden-claiming wins; off latest wants no parts of a wet track however his career-low Beyer was produced on fast-CD dirt; the 2-back winner and show finisher Beyered 70-66 in next-out KEE-40K-claiming and OP-$12,500-maiden-claiming wins.   Shere Khan Has uncoupled barnmate Big Air going here; projects that both Lukas runners want to be forwardy placed with Big Air seemingy the quicker of the 2 from the gate; his best Beyer was at longer than this and while last-out OP runners have fared well at the current CD meet others appeal more.   Shirota Exits a best-last-race Beyer and seems set to improve in his 2nd start following a 55-day absence and with a recent race over the track; flashed speed previously at CD; he has to improve his stamina but gets a speed-favoring oval and the rider change is a positive; see a lot of upside for this.   Alert and Perky Exits a career-low speed figure which prompts the class drop; trainer's CD-2014 win was with a fresh runner; field-best Beyer was in a 1 Mile CD dirt race when closing strongly; in the last 10 CD 6F races 5 winners scored on the lead and only one winner rallied from 4th or worse at the 1st call.   Yolo Mon Sire is 47-for-384 with debut runners; is the 1st foal out of a 5-for-23 dam (88K) who won her career debut; while he does not meet a field full of superstars the worktab does not dazzle and the trainer is winless since 2013 with 1sters (0-for-3); will be taking a wait and see approach.   K C Kid 2014-CD start comes back as a career-low Beyer; rallied well to just miss at Tampa during the winter but not much in last 2; the workout for this does not entice for the shortest-distance test of career; off latest would be a complete surprise.   Malibu Springs The 1st start in a maiden claimer also came with front wraps on for the 1st time; it did not produce the improvement expected however the rider from 3 losses stays right here; exiting routes projects to race midpack then make one run. Race 8 Visionary Ruler Steps up to the allowance ranks after holding on to beat claimers on the engine over the Keeneland main track; colt has speed and he returned to work well so expect to see his lick on display on a field that doesn't look to contain an overabundance of that commodity; sire gets 9% first time surface winners from his offspring and both the dam and her other foal to race were 0 for 3 on the green.   Anyriderill Do Four year old makes his first start of the season in this spot he handled the green quite well last year and wasn't beaten much after making all the pace with some top sophomore turf routers here last spring; he's run well fresh and did break his maiden sprinting.   Ouimet Gelding is working like he's ready to return running after hitting the shelf off his first start of the year at the level; he won right out of the box and his most visually impressive effort came off a 5 month break; price should be right to give him a good look.   Nubin Ridge Tries better after running them down over a heavy Fair Grounds turf course; he'll pick up weight while cutting back a half panel and in a field without a lot of speed that may prove to be tough to overcome; prefer to side with others on the win end.   Channel Marker He's in for the optional tag after finding graded stakes foes a little too much for him off the break at Keeneland; gelding is an pretty solid turf sprinter when right and a top pilot who knows him well will get back aboard today; giving him the nod to get back in the winner's circle on the class relief today.   The Absolute One Changed hands after his return wire job over cheap claimers at Fair Grounds and now he'll make his way back to the allowance ranks; new outfit excels with this type first time out and he has the speed to be involved in this one from the bell; with Leparoux taking the call he looks to be a threat from close range.   Stormy Rocit Should be tighter with his first start of the year behind him and he did return to work well over the Keeneland main track; gelding's best game is speed, though, and he'll get off the fence to start outside some others with lick; barn hits at a nice clip with runners second off the break but this guy may have to prove he can sit and fire to be effective from here.   Masaru Tries the green for the first time after tiring from his pace efforts in the slop at Oaklawn while making his initial try at the level; like the fact he's been able to track the pacesetters and run past them late; sire gets about 7% first time surface winners from his offspring and the dam was a G2 SW sprinter who never tried the lawn prior to dropping one foal who tried the footing and was 0 for 3 over it.   Ruble He's been idle since trying a tricky turf course in his initial surface start late last summer; gray came up empty late in that one and he boasts just a few short recent drills for his return; solid journeyman pilot takes the call and this gut did run well fresh earlier in his career, but have to think he'll be better with this one behind him. Race 10 Jinx the Cat Loved the KEE synthetic surface in last finishing better than ever before with a career-best Beyer speed figure attached; lacked stamina in his only turf start and clearly has a lot to prove on the green; through May 11 at the current meet last-out KEE runners won 36 races at CD.   Skylar Bleu Away since fading with a career-low Beyer; the good news is his best races are when rallying from far back on the grass and that style fits the CD green at today's distance; the winner from last repeated in a TDN alw. with a 66 speed figure.   First Beach Exits a best-last-race Beyer speed figure when primed for this on KEE synthetic; wish we saw more in his last turf start when troubled vs. the runner-up finisher who Beyered 83 in a next-out DMR-MSW win; his turf debut was much better a career-best speed figure where the winner repeated in a GP-optional claimer with an 85 speed figure.   Metz Sire is 42-for-444 with 1st-turf starters; is out of a 2-for-3 grass dam (65K); her only other foal to race 0-for-1 Open Mic did not race on grass; the runner-up and 9th-place finishers from last Beyered 52-45 in next-out MNR-MSW-14K-maiden-claiming wins.   Pirates Parlay The longest-distance test ever is the main concern; the winner and 6th-place finishers from last Beyered 75-57 in next-out HAW-allowance and KEE-40K-maiden-claiming wins; trying to remember his field-best Beyer posted in the 5F-grass career debut 11 months ago on CD turf.   Flummox Adds blinkers trying to shake up the form after commencing career with 2 last-place finishes; the CD dirt workout for this was dull but of his 2 Beyers the better number was posted on grass; 1st time racing in a maiden claimer today from MSW level has been labled as the biggest-class drop in racing.   Sir Nicholas Sire is 11-for-68 with 1st-turf starters; 16-for-118 with 1st-time starters; is out of a multiple-stakes-winning dam (8-for-33, 363K) who went 0-for-1 on turf; she produced 4 winners from 6 other foals to race; 1 of 4 foals won on grass (6-for-28 turfer Upgrade 410K).   Ready Mecke A lot of good-win angles for this including being a last-out KEE runner and he can rally on a CD turf course at 1M and 1-16th favoring late runners; 2 of the trainer's 4 CD wins were with fresh runners like him; hot-CD rider keeps the faith; looms a logical contender for win honors.   This Ones for Tony Speedster hopes to improve stamina off latest dirt fade; his career-best Beyer and all 3 exacta finishes on the lawn so hopes he can carry his speed this far and win; was edged vs. the 3-back winner who repeated in a CD-$7.500 claimer with a 66 Beyer.   Dyna's Vow Sire is 46-for-426 with 1st-turf starters; 70-for-626 with 1st-time starters; is the 1st foal out of a 2-for-9 dam (31K) who went 0-for-1 on the grass; the worktab for 1st asking and 1-for-11 debut trainer since 2013 suggests we take a wait and see approach.
