Churchill Downs: Cigar Street points to Peter Pan

Cigar Street, the 3-year-old Street Sense colt who finished a close fourth in the April 1 Louisiana Derby three weeks after a flashy two-turn maiden win at Fair Grounds, is headed to New York next week for a start in the May 12 Peter Pan Stakes, trainer Steve Margolis said. John Velazuez will ride Cigar Street in the Peter Pan, said Margolis.

Cigar Street finished a troubled fifth in his career debut, a sprint, before clearing the maiden ranks second out with a 13 3/4-ength route win. Cigar Street might have regressed somewhat coming back on short rest in the Louisiana Derby, but still managed to finish a close fourth in a race won by huge longshot Hero of Order.
