Chi Chi, My Destiny head to Keeneland after Remington stakes victories
Trainer Herman Wilensky’s first two starters at Remington Park won stakes on the Oklahoma Derby undercard Sunday and the horses – Chi Chi and My Destiny – are now bound for Keeneland.
Wilensky brought a handful of horses to Remington from Southern California, and after a few more run in overnight races in Oklahoma the group will head to Kentucky.
Chi Chi came to Remington a maiden and will leave a stakes winner by virtue of her victory in the $50,000 E.L. Gaylord Memorial. The 2-year-old filly won the 6 1/2-furlong race in 1:17.98 and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 81.

It was the first dirt start for the daughter of Audible who had run fifth and fourth in a pair of maiden special weight turf sprints at Del Mar. She won the Gaylord by 1 1/4 lengths Sunday in an effort that was notable for a few different reasons, noted Wilensky’s son and assistant, Sam Wilensky.
“She just shipped from Del Mar, just ran right at two weeks ago, and for her to come over here, no breeze over the track, just show up as a maiden, beat winners, including a runner who won by 11 last out, she was impressive,” said Sam Wilensky.
Chi Chi, who races for Ernest Brohboese, has both a pedigree and constitution that suggests she has a bright future. She is a half-sister to Simplification, a past winner of the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth who earned more than $800,000, and she weighs in at 1,100 pounds.
“She’s a monster,” Sam Wilensky said. “She’s a beautiful filly. She’s a really big girl.”
Chi Chi is now being pointed for the $200,000 Myrtlewood, a six-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies Oct. 27 at Keeneland, said Sam Wilensky.
“She’s definitely a dirt horse,” he said. “In the future, she may be able to go two turns being an Audible.”
Sam Wilensky owns My Destiny, who captured the $50,000 Flashy Lady Handicap by more than five lengths and earned a career-high Beyer of 92.
“She’s a champ,” he said. “No matter where you take her, she shows up every time.
“This is going to be her last year running. She’s going to be a momma. Hopefully, we can hit the board in a graded stakes before we retire her.”
My Destiny, who is a 6-year-old by Majesticperfection, was fifth in the Grade 1 Derby City Distaff in May at Churchill Downs. She was winning her second career stakes race in the Flashy Lady, behind a January victory in the Orleans at Delta Downs.
“We’ll race some of her babies, sell some of her babies,” said Sam Wilensky. “We’re excited, but it will be a sad day when she leaves the barn.”
Sam Wilensky said he and his father plan to look at a variety of stallions for My Destiny, from Tapit to new horses expected to enter stud next year, like Cody’s Wish to Elite Power. My Destiny is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Pleasant Hill.
