Charles Town track report

Jayhawk Janet, one of the sharpest fillies at Charles Town last fall, when she won three races in a row at seven furlongs, was claimed by trainer Jeff Allen for $25,000 out of last Friday's sixth race.

Making her first start since November, Jayhawk Janet won the claiming race with a 79 Beyer Speed Figure. She is now 4 for 8 at Charles Town.

* The 6-year-old gelding Esteemed, trained by Ernest Haynes, won for the third time in his last four starts and earned a career-best 88 Beyer when he trounced $3,000 claimers by 16 1/4 lengths going 1 1/16 miles in last Wednesday's fifth race.

* The 7-year-old horse Bishoftu changed barns for the fourth time in his last 10 starts when he was claimed for $5,000 by Dave W. Vance out of a win Feb. 2. All seven of Bishoftu's career victories have come at 4 1/2 furlongs.
