Charles Town: The Student up in time

Trainer Scott Lake has come from out of town to take the first two stakes of the season at Charles Town.

The Student ($2.40) provided Lake with his second stakes at Charles Town within a week when he overcame a three-length deficit in the final furlong to overtake pacesetter Bishoftu by a neck in Friday night's $51,050 Costy Caras Memorial.

It was the second consecutive stakes win and third straight victory overall for The Student, a 7-year-old gelding who is now 17 for 32 lifetime. He covered 4 1/2 furlongs in 51.49 seconds.
