Charles Town Classic the goal for new millionaire Bankit

ELMONT, N.Y. – Bankit, the New York-bred who became a millionaire when he dominated the Commentator Stakes by 13 1/4 lengths here May 31, will be pointed to the $800,000 Charles Town Classic on Aug. 27, trainer Steve Asmussen said.
“That will most likely be one of his targets going forward for the rest of the year,” Asmussen said. “What a cool old horse he is, freakishly consistent his whole life. For him to be a millionaire is pretty cool.”

Where Bankit might start before the Charles Town Classic is not clear. The $100,000 Evan Shipman Stakes for New York-breds on Aug. 11 could be too close to the Charles Town Classic.
Bankit, a 5-year-old son of Central Banker, has won three stakes in the last six months – the Alex M. Robb in December, the John B. Campbell in February, and the Commentator, for which he earned a 105 Beyer Speed Figure.
