She’s a Tiger, champion 2-year-old filly of 2013, has been retired from racing and will be offered this fall at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky November mixed sale as a broodmare prospect.

The Kentucky-bred Tale of the Cat filly raced for a partnership headed by Dr. Mark Dedomenico and won her debut by nine lengths at Pleasanton last June. She then went on to become a West Coast standout through the summer and fall under Jeff Bonde’s supervision, scoring wins in the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante and listed Landaluce Stakes and finishing second in the Grade 1 Chandelier Stakes and Grade 2 Sorrento Stakes.

She’s a Tiger concluded her championship campaign in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita, when she set a swift pace and crossed the finish line first but was disqualified and placed second behind Ria Antonia due to interference in deep stretch.

She’s a Tiger finished seventh in her final career start and only start at 3, the Grade 3 Eight Belles Stakes at Churchill Downs on May 2. She won 3 of 7 career starts and earned $727,650 for the partnership.

She’s a Tiger is headed to John Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm in Lexington, Ky., and Hill ‘n’ Dale will consign the filly this fall at the Nov. 3 Fasig-Tipton sale.

“She was a great success story for the partnership, and a very good race filly, the kind that everybody’s looking for,” Sikura said. “She’s by a very good sire in Tale of the Cat, she was very precocious, and stretched her speed to [finish first] in the Breeders’ Cup – it’s the complete package.”

Bred in Kentucky by Dr. Rodney Orr, She’s a Tiger is out of the stakes-winning Cahill Road mare Shandra Smiles, and is a half-sister to three-time Grade 1 winner and $1.4 million earner Smiling Tiger. Both are second-generation male-line descendants of legendary sire Storm Cat.
