Champagne d’Oro, Danceinthesunlight, Mi Vida added to Fasig-Tipton November catalog

DRF Breeding Staff|Oct 09, 2013

The catalog for the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall selected mixed sale continues to expand, with three more high-profile additions on Wednesday:

Danceinthesunlight, an 8-year-old A.P. Indy mare who sells in foal to Giant’s Causeway. She is the dam of Grade 2 winner and narrow Travers Stakes runner-up Moreno, who is one of her two winners from as many foals to race. Her second dam is Canadian Horse of the Year and Broodmare of the Year Dance Smartly, making her from the family of Grade 1 winners Smart Strike and Full of Wonder, as well as Grade 2 winners Strike Smartly and Dance With Ravens. Danceinthesunlight’s first dam is Canadian champion Dancethruthedawn.

Mi Vida, a 4-year-old stakes-placed winning Distorted Humor mare, selling in foal for the first time to Quality Road. Her dam, stakes winner Crystal Current, is a sibling to Grade 1 winner and young sire Majestic Warrior, as well as stakes winner Evolutionist and stakes producer A. P. Dream, all out of Grade 1 winner Dream Supreme. Mi Vida is also from the family of Grade 1 winner Spinning Round and Peruvian champion Kung Fu Mambo.

Champagne d’Oro, a 6-year-old multiple Grade 1-winning Medaglia d’Oro mare, who will sell in foal to Tapit. Out of Grade 1-placed stakes winner Champagne Glow, Champagne d’Oro is a half-sister to Belmont Stakes winner Ruler on Ice and stakes-placed winner Lost On Champagne. Her notable family members also include Italian champion Jurado, Grade 1 winner Grand Canyon, and Grade 3 winner Champagne Ginny.

“These are wonderful additions to our November catalog,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning Jr. “Young mares of this quality are very difficult to obtain and buyers throughout the world will be excited about the potential of these offerings.”

The mares will be consigned by Bluewater Sales, as agent for Southern Equine Stables, and will be added to the end of the catalog.

“Participants in the Thoroughbred industry understand the tax requirements for profitability,” said Meg Levy of Bluewater Sales. “The sale of these horses in 2013 will achieve this requirement.”
