Cesario out three months

Cesario, the brilliant four-length winner of the American Oaks at Hollywood Park on July 3, will be sidelined for three months after having suffered an inflamed ligament to her right foreleg in Japan, the Japan Racing Association announced on Friday in an Associated Press report.

A 3-year-old daughter of Special Week trained by Katsuhiko Sumii, Cesario had preceded her American Oaks victory with a score in the Japanese Oaks at Tokyo Racecourse on May 22. Her connections had been considering a possible return to the United States for the Breeders' Cup, but her injury likely has put an end to those plans.
