Cavorting, Condo Commando will go head to head in Frizette

ELMONT, N.Y. – A matchup between undefeated graded stakes winners Cavorting and Condo Commando is expected to take place in next Saturday’s Grade 1, $500,000 Frizette Stakes for juvenile fillies at Belmont Park.
Cavorting, a daughter of Bernardini trained by Kiaran McLaughlin for Stonestreet Stables, is 2 for 2 with an 11-length maiden win at Belmont and a 1 3/4-length victory in the Grade 2 Adirondack Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 10.
Meanwhile, Condo Commando, trained by Rudy Rodriguez for a partnership headed by Michael Dubb, is 2 for 2, after winning a $75,000 maiden-claiming race by 12 lengths and the Grade 1 Spinaway by 13 1/4 lengths.
Others pointing to the Frizette include Feathered and Wonder Gal.
Trainer Dale Romans is toying with the idea of wheeling Temper Mint Patty back in the Frizette, which would come just two weeks after she won the Joseph A. Gimma Stakes for New York-breds by 13 1/2 lengths.
Even if he elects to skip that race, Romans thinks quite highly of Temper Mint Patty.
“She’s quality,” Romans said. “The whole New York program is so different. There are a lot of quality New York-breds.”
Romans said he wasn’t surprised Temper Mint Patty won the Gimma by such a large margin.
“To be honest with you, I was surprised she didn’t win by 10 first time out,” Romans said.
