Cathryn Sophia has first Spa work

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Cathryn Sophia made her first local appearance Friday, breezing a half-mile over the Oklahoma training track with jockey Javier Castellano aboard. According to Daily Racing Form clocker Mike Vesce, Cathryn Sophia completed the distance in 50 seconds, going very easily before galloping out five-eighths in 1:03.60
“Javier was very happy with her,” said trainer John Servis, who was not on hand for the work. “I’m just using this work as a stepping-stone to start moving forward to see where we’re at with her.”
Cathryn Sophia was freshened following her third-place finish behind Carina Mia in the Grade 1 Acorn at Belmont Park on June 11. She won the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks five weeks earlier.
“She’s maintained a pretty good bottom under her, and Javier said she galloped out very well this morning,” said Servis, who is scheduled to arrive here Tuesday. “Her next work will tell us a lot more.”
Servis said he believes Cathryn Sophia should be ready to return within three or four weeks, but he has nothing specific targeted for her.
