Cathryn Sophia among 160 horses cataloged for Fasig-Tipton November sale

Cathryn Sophia at the Acorn Stakes
Barbara D. Livingston Five-time stakes winner Cathryn Sophia will be offered at Fasig-Tipton's Kentucky fall selected mixed sale.

Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 160 initial offerings, including Kentucky Oaks winner Cathryn Sophia, for its Kentucky fall selected mixed sale.

The sale, to be held Monday night, Oct. 7, begins with 50 selected weanlings before moving into racing or broodmare prospects. According to Fasig-Tipton, the catalog includes 57 graded stakes winners or producers.

“Our goal each year for the November sale is to assemble a catalog of outstanding quality that will appeal to buyers from around the globe,” Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning said. “This year’s catalog hits that mark from start to finish.”

Cathryn Sophia, a five-time stakes winner, is consigned as a racing or broodmare prospect by Taylor Made Sales, as agent. She is considered possible for the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint two days prior to sale. She is one example of top fillies and mares who could head straight from the races to the sale grounds, a notable feature of Kentucky's fall mixed sale.

Others cataloged include defending Filly and Mare Sprint winner Wavell Avenue, Juvenile Fillies contender Union Strike, and Chilean champion and Filly and Mare Turf contender Dacita. Fasig-Tipton will also offer a supplemental catalog to this sale, accepting selected entries through the Breeders' Cup.

Broodmares in the catalog include Love the Chase, the dam of champion and Breeders' Cup Classic favorite California Chrome. The mare, carrying a Tapit foal bred on a similar cross as her outstanding son, is consigned by Taylor Made.
