ELMONT, N.Y. – Catholic Boy came out of his fourth-place finish in Monday’s Grade 2 Knickerbocker Stakes in good order, but as of Wednesday his connections had yet to figure out what might be next for the dual-surface Grade 1 winner. The Breeders’ Cup Classic was still not out of the question, according to trainer Jonathan Thomas, who said the large ownership group had yet to huddle up to discuss the colt’s future. “I think he came out of it really well, no worse for the wear,” Thomas said. “He gave up a fair amount of ground. It’s hard to be too disappointed in his performance. From what I’ve seen, the horse is acting like he came out of a big old workout.” Catholic Boy was beaten three lengths in the Knickerbocker. ◗ London House, who won two straight races impressively at Aqueduct in the winter, makes his first start in eight months in Friday’s featured second-level optional claimer for New York-breds going 6 1/2 furlongs. London House, a 3-year-old ridgling by Honorable Dillon, won a seven-furlong maiden race by 15 1/4 lengths in January and a first-level allowance by 5 1/2 lengths in February before going to the sidelines. He will take on a field that includes The Caretaker, who just won at this condition level Sept. 12 but who is now in for the $40,000 optional-claiming price. Kosciuszko, second in this condition last out, is another player in this field.
