Catholic Boy moved to Harris Farms for 2025

The six-time stakes winner Catholic Boy will stand at Harris Farms in Coalinga, Calif., in 2025, the farm announced earlier this week.

Catholic Boy will stand for $6,000, according to the statement. In 2024, Catholic Boy stood for $10,000 at Claiborne Farms in Kentucky.

A 9-year-old by More Than Ready, Catholic Boy’s oldest foals are 3. Through Tuesday, Catholic Boy ranked 11th on the list of second-crop stallions with progeny earnings of $1,934,883.

His leading foal this year is Rock’n a Halo, who finished third in the Black Gold Stakes at Fair Grounds in March.

On the track, Catholic Boy won 7 of 13 starts and earned $2,134,000. Trained by Jonathan Thomas, Catholic Boy won six stakes, including consecutive Grade 1 races at 1 1/4 miles – the $1.2 million Belmont Derby on turf at Belmont Park in July 2018, and the $1.25 million Travers Stakes on dirt at Saratoga the following month.

Catholic Boy, who won two stakes on dirt and four on turf, is out of the Song of Bernadette, by Bernardini.

Earlier this year, Catholic Boy was booked to 11 mares, according to the Jockey Club’s website.

At Harris Farms, Catholic Boy joins a stallion roster that includes Acclamation, Desert Code, Eight Rings, Halladay, Om, Stanford, Tamarando, and Uptown Rythem, according to the farm’s website.
