Catch a Glimpse pointing toward Nassau Stakes
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Catch a Glimpse, the 2015 Canadian Horse of the Year, has returned to Woodbine for the first time since her win in the Grade 2 Natalma Stakes as a 2-year-old in 2015 and is pointing toward the meet’s first stakes race on turf, the Grade 2, $175,000 Nassau Stakes over a mile May 27.
Catch a Glimpse has been keeping top company in the United States, most recently finishing eighth in the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley Stakes at Keeneland on April 15. After reeling off eight consecutive victories across her 2-year-old and 3-year-old campaigns, Catch a Glimpse has not won in her last five starts. Her last win came in July in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks Invitational at Belmont Park, and trainer Mark Casse said he hopes the move back to Woodbine will get Catch a Glimpse back to the winner’s circle.
“We just want to try and get her back winning,” he said. “She’s been running against the best. I thought [Woodbine] would be a nice place. She’s done well there. She’s undefeated on that turf course, so I thought it might be a nice spot.”
Catch a Glimpse is unbeaten in two starts on the Woodbine turf, with both wins coming during her 2-year-old campaign in 2015 ahead of her victory in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Keeneland. Along with her win in the Natalma Stakes, Catch a Glimpse won the prep for the Natalma as a maiden under jockey Jesse Campbell.
Catch a Glimpse recorded her first breeze back at Woodbine on Friday, covering five furlongs in 59.40 seconds on the main track.
