Catch a Glimpse impresses in Natalma Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Catch a Glimpse ($19.80) went right to the front and never looked back to capture the Grade 2, $212,800 Natalma Stakes, a Breeders’ Cup Win and You’re In qualifier at Woodbine on Saturday.
Over a rain-softened course labeled “good,” Catch a Glimpse set fractions of 23.63 and 47.57 seconds under Florent Geroux before drawing away in the stretch to prevail by five lengths in 1:35.95 for the mile.
“It seemed like she was a little bit nervous in the paddock and post parade,” said Geroux. “I just tried to calm her down. When I asked her turning for home, she gave me a very nice kick. She won the race pretty easily. She’s not very big, but she’s very tough and fast.”
After starting a little slowly, the favored Gamble’s Ghost rallied wide for second, and Caren was a stalking third in the 10-horse field.
It was the sixth Natalma win in the last 10 years for trainer Mark Casse, who sent out Catch a Glimpse to take the allowance prep for the race. She earned $120,000 for owners Gary Barber, Windways Farm, and Mike Ambler.
Windways Farm owner Jeff Begg said Plan A for the City Zip filly is the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf at Keeneland, which is where he purchased her as a yearling.
