Catalog available for Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. October yearling sale

The catalog for the 2017 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. October yearling sale is now available online, with 616 horses on offer, prior to supplemental entries.

The two-day auction will begin Tuesday, Oct. 10, with a 188-horse selected session beginning at noon Eastern. The remainder of the catalog will be offered during the open session on Wednesday, Oct. 11, starting at 9 a.m.

Supplemental entries are being accepted for both the select and sessions. Horses added to the open session will be sold at the end of Tuesday’s offerings, beginning with Hip 189, while open supplements will be sold at the end of Wednesday’s catalog, starting with Hip 731.

For the past three decades, the auction company’s flagship yearling sale was held in August, but OBS director of sales Tod Wojciechowski said the new date offers plenty of benefits.

“We are excited about the sale’s new calendar placement,” he said. “Holding the sale after the conclusion of the boutique race meets at Del Mar and Saratoga will be more convenient for buyers, and gives consignors a more mature product to market. Also, moving the sale to October’s more moderate temperatures will be a plus for buyers, consignors and horses.”

Stallions represented by yearlings from their first crops in the OBS October catalog include Alpha, Black Onyx, Capo Bastone, Central Banker, Cross Traffic, Csaba, Cyber Secret, Drill, Fed Biz, Flashback, Global Response, Goldencents, Guilt Trip, Handsome Mike, He’s Had Enough, Honorable Dillon, Itsmyluckyday, Mark Valeski, Moro Tap, Mucho Macho Man, Revolutionary, Shakin It Up, Sum of the Parts, Super Ninety Nine, Uncaptured, Verrazano, and Will Take Charge.
