Castellano has up-and-down weekend

OLDSMAR, Fla. – Hall of Fame jockey Javier Castellano did not receive a suspension from the Tampa stewards following a review of a Friday race in which his mount, Cyberviking, was disqualified from first to second for interfering with an opponent to his inside while under a right-handed whip.
Castellano was in for two days from his Gulfstream Park winter base. Prior to riding in six Saturday races, ending with a second-place finish aboard Shipsational in the Davis, he won the featured eighth race Friday aboard the Payson Park shipper Scalding ($3.20) for trainer Shug McGaughey. Scalding, a 4-year-old Nyquist colt, got an 89 Beyer from a 5 1/4-length romp.
◗ A pair of turf-sprint stakes for older horses will highlight the coming weekend at Tampa when the $100,000 Turf Dash and $100,000 Lightning City are run Saturday.
Carotari, a turf-sprint standout with $556,863 in career earnings, did not run in the Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint last weekend nor will he be entered in the Turf Dash because of a quarter crack, said Lynch.
◗ A pair of $30,000 allowances (races 5 and 8) are part of a nine-race Wednesday card that kicks off another four-day race week at Tampa. There is a carryover of $18,138 into the super high five wager.
Sunshine and a high of 81 are in the local forecast for Wednesday, when first post is 12:15 p.m. Eastern.
