Casse stars War of Will, Got Stormy going separate ways

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – War of Will and Got Stormy, two of the stars of trainer Mark Casse’s stable, went different directions when they left Saratoga.
Got Stormy, who provided Casse with two of his five stakes wins at Saratoga, on Monday shipped to Woodbine where she is going to make her next start in the Woodbine Mile on Sept. 14. On Saturday, Got Stormy worked a strong five furlongs in 1:00.34 over the Oklahoma turf course.
War of Will, the Preakness winner, was scheduled to ship to Belmont Park on Tuesday. He will train at Belmont for the Grade 1, $1 million Pennsylvania Derby at Parx on Sept. 21.
On Sunday, he worked five furlongs in 59.59 seconds over the Saratoga main track. He galloped out six furlongs in 1:12.76 and seven furlongs in 1:26.47.
“He’s such a great work horse,” Casse said.
Casse said he wanted to give War of Will plenty of time between races, which is why he decided to skip the Travers after the horse finished fifth in the Jim Dandy on July 27.
Casse also planned to ship Sunday’s Grade 1 Spinaway winner Perfect Alibi to Belmont Park on Tuesday. However, she will most likely make her next start in the Grade 1, $400,000 Alcibiades at Keeneland on Oct. 4.
Casse said he prefers the two turns and 1 1/16 miles of the Alcibiades to the one-turn mile configuration of the Frizette at Belmont Park on Oct. 6.
