Casse sends out two big threats in Glorious Song

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Saturday’s renewal of the $125,000 Glorious Song Stakes at Woodbine is one of the strongest ever. There is a host of impressive debut winners in the seven-furlong sprint for 2-year-old fillies, including the Mark Casse-trained duo of Jennifer Lynnette and Conquest Babayaga.
Jennifer Lynnette made quite a splash Oct. 18 on Canadian International Day, winning a six-furlong maiden special weight race on the lead by five lengths over next-out winner Sophia’s Song.
Conquest Babayaga debuted two weeks later in a seven-furlong maiden special weight race. After stalking slow fractions, she took control in the stretch and drew off for a 6 3/4-length tally.
“I was impressed by both of their maiden victories,” said Casse. “We think both of them have bright futures.”

KEY CONTENDERS
Jennifer Lynnette (Beyer: 73)
She galloped out strongly in her race, suggesting that a stretch-out in distance won’t be a problem for this daughter of Elusive Quality, who’s adding Lasix.
Conquest Babayaga (Beyer: 78)
◗ The $425,000 juvenile purchase is by red-hot freshman sire Uncle Mo, the leading 2-year-old sire in North America.
Tiz Imaginary (Last 2 Beyers: 74-71)
◗ After prevailing in her first start Oct. 4, she took the six-furlong Fanfreluche Stakes from just off the pace, much to the delight of trainer Mike Doyle.
“The idea was to follow someone, and I’m glad it worked out that way,” Doyle said. “She seemed to improve from her last race.”
Ami’s Mesa (Beyer: 79)
◗ She had worked like Ruffian prior to debuting in a seven-furlong maiden special Oct. 12, during which she blew by most of the field on the turn en route to an eight-length triumph under a hand ride.
Calling Rhy Rhy (Beyer: 82)
◗ After breaking from post 11 in a five-furlong dash Nov. 5, she dueled two wide for the lead on the turn before kicking away for a six-length victory. The nicely bred City Zip filly could lead the way under Eurico Da Silva after breaking from the rail.
She’ll Do It (Last 2 Beyers: 55-85)
◗ She led throughout her five-furlong debut in August and has been idle since ending up seventh in one of the best key races of the meet, the Grade 2 Natalma. The top three finishers from that turf route all came back to win a stakes, most notably Catch a Glimpse, who won the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Keeneland.
Pulled the Goalie (Last 3 Beyers: 29-69-65)
◗ She finished up the course in the Natalma after a good second in the allowance prep for that stakes. Trainer Danny Vella and jockey Alan Garcia combined to win a recent 2-year-old stakes here.
