Casse aiming high with He Takes Charge

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Mark Casse is so high on He Takes Charge that the trainer intends to give the gray Tapit colt a shot to prove himself with the elite of the 3-year-old class. Making his fifth career start, He Takes Charge drew clear late to win a 1 1/16-mile maiden race here Saturday with Tyler Gaffalione aboard, earning a career-high 82 Beyer Speed Figure.

“We’re going to aim extremely high with him,” Casse said. “He’ll definitely run in one of the Derby preps next. He’s a colt with an incredible amount of ability. He’s the type that goofs off before, during, and after a race. Hopefully, it’s just a matter of time before things really start clicking for him.”
