Cassandra Go beats Superstar Leo

Cassandra Go, a 5-year-old mare in foal to Green Desert, led virtually throughout to take the Group 2 Temple Stakes at Sandown Park Monday, beating two champions in the process.

Second in the Group 3 Palace House Stakes in her last race, Cassandra Go, a Geoff Wragg-trained daughter of Indian Ridge, repelled the challenge of European juvenile filly champ Superstar Leo halfway through the uphill five furlongs, then held off the late charges of Vision of Night and French champion sprinter Nuclear Debate by a half-length and a short head. The 3-1 co-favorite with Nuclear Debate, Cassandra Go was timed in 1:00.63 on good to firm ground as Superstar Leo faded to sixth.

Cassandra Go will have her last race in the five-furlong King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot where she will renew rivalry with both Nuclear Debate and Superstar Leo.
