Cash's Girl runs down the favorites

When two of the speediest horses in the race, Your Flame in Me and Devil House, scratched out of the $58,400 Dashing Beauty Stakes at Delaware Park, it appeared the late-running Cash's Girl was up against it. No matter.

Cash's Girl and jockey Pablo Morales got the speed duel they needed when Akronism and Clay's Angel dueled through a half-mile in 45.37 seconds, and they got past those two in the final furlong for a three-quarter-length victory. Akronism, sent off at 2-1, and Clay's Angel, the 9-5 favorite, held on for second and third.

Owned by Cash Is King and trained by Tim Ritchey, Cash's Girl paid $8.20 to win in the five-horse field of fillies and mares. She ran the six furlongs in 1:09.85.

Cash's Girl, a 4-year-old daughter of Northern Afleet, won the 1 1/16-mile Wayward Lass at Tampa Bay in March, but had not won sprinting since last June.
