Cash Is King gets Eclipse

Cash Is King Racing Stable, the owner of the 2005 Preakness and Belmont Stakes winner, Afleet Alex, has been selected to receive a Special Eclipse Award, the National Thoroughbred Racing Association announced Monday.

The Special Eclipse is being given to honor Cash Is King's connection to Alex's Lemonade Stand, a pediatric cancer charity. The charity was named after Alexandra Scott, who died in 2004 at the age of 8 from cancer. Scott had started a lemonade stand at age 4 to raise money for the hospital where she was being treated. Cash Is King donated a portion of Afleet Alex's earnings throughout 2005 to the charity and supported the establishment of Alex's Lemonade Stands at racetracks.

Cash Is King is made up of Chuck Zacney, Bob Bittingham, Joe Judge, Joe Lerro, and Jennifer Reeves. All five live in Pennsylvania.
