Cash Counter upsets in Lady Luck

Jeff Taylor|Oct 18, 2004

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Longshot Cash Counter kicked down favored Ready to Live in the final strides Sunday afternoon to pull off the upset in the Lady Luck Stakes for 2-year-old fillies. Tocha finished third followed by Magic Streak.

Owned by Edward Orlando and trained by Sam David, Jr., Cash Counter ($40.40) rallied from off the pace under a well judged ride Tracy Hebert who continued his hot hand for the last two weeks. The winner is a Florida-bred daughter of Top Account who brought $42,000 at the Texas 2-year-old sale back in March. The victory was her second in five career starts and her first on the grass in three tries. She covered the about one mile in 1:38.86 over firm going and picked up $30,000 for her winning connections.
