Cash Back stays perfect with allowance victory
NEW ORLEANS – Cash Back is the latest in a long line of talented horses produced by the mare Hidden Assets, and the 3-year-old filly ran her career record to 2 for 2 with a comfortable front-running victory in a turf-sprint allowance race here Thursday.
The Klein family of Louisville campaigned Hidden Assets, and they bred and own Cash Back, who is by Congrats. Hidden Assets was a good racehorse and has been an even better broodmare, already having produced Due Date, Country Day, Good Deed, and Cash Control. Good Deed holds the Fair Grounds turf course record for 5 1/2 furlongs, while Cash Control won the Tiffany Lass Stakes earlier this meet and is a stablemate of Cash Back in trainer Brad Cox’s string at Fair Grounds.
After the Thursday win, Cox said there are no plans to stretch Cash Back out to two turns, and with no suitable stakes for her at Fair Grounds, the filly is tentatively being pointed to the $75,000 Melody of Colors, a five-furlong turf dash Feb. 20 at Gulfstream Park.
