The Cartel Warrior tops field for Old South Futurity
The Cartel Warrior, who set the fastest qualifying time for the $81,430 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs, will break from post 10 for Saturday night’s finale. He won his maiden during trials April 22, when he covered 330 yards on a fast track in 16.88 seconds.
Other leading contenders include Capitan Jimbob, a winner of two of three career starts, with his lone loss coming by a neck in the Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity on March 22 at Louisiana Downs. He finished second. One start later, Capitan Jimbob romped by 1 1/2 lengths in his trial for the Old South Futurity, in 17.13. He will break from the rail Saturday.
Heritage Place Futurity trials at Remington
The second night of trials for the Grade 1, $1 million Heritage Place Futurity will be held Saturday at Remington Park. The first round is Friday night. In all, there are 24 trials scheduled for the Heritage Place, with 12 on Saturday. The finale is June 3.
