Carryover in early pick five expected to attract millions in betting on Sunday

ARCADIA, Calif. - Sunday’s program at Santa Anita begins with a racing rarity – a carryover of $406,147 in the 50-cent early pick five.
The carryover was clinched when Going to Vegas ($7.20) led throughout the Grade 1 Rodeo Drive Stakes, Saturday’s fifth race. Going to Vegas was by far the lowest $2 mutuel in the early pick five on Saturday.
The other winners were Weemissgrammy ($41.40), Apprehend ($19.80), Izzy Em ($37.80) and Blessed Touch ($12).

In the Rodeo Drive, two horses were covered in the pick five – Fluffy Socks and Neige Blanche. They finished fourth and last in a field of seven.
The pool of new money on Sunday could approach $3 million. The early pick five, which has a discounted takeout of 14 percent, has fields of 11, 9, 8, 10 and 10.
The sequence comprises a maiden special weight race for statebred fillies and mares at five furlongs on turf, a $20,000 claimer for maidens at six furlongs, a maiden special weight for statebreds at a mile on turf, a $12,500 to $16,000 claimer at six furlongs, and the Grade 3 Zuma Beach Stakes for 2-year-olds at a mile on turf.
