There’s lots of money to be made at Golden Gate Fields this weekend, and not just because there will be a trio of $100,000 stakes races. Big bucks are on the line for bettors on Friday, when the Golden Pick 6 jackpot starts the day with a $453,398 carryover.

The jackpot is paid out when there is only one ticket with all six winners. It has been 33 race days since the last Golden Pick 6 payout.

On Sunday, $199,449 was wagered on the Golden Pick 6, which has a 20-cent minimum wager. Two winning tickets had all six winners, resulting in $53,276 consolation payments.

Friday’s Golden Pick 6 begins in the third race, a six-furlong maiden special weight for 3-year-old fillies. Six were entered, including a pair of shippers – Majestic Fantasy, coming north from Santa Anita, and Sweet Moment, who made her debut at Gulfstream Park last year.

In race 4, seven 3-year-old fillies are signed up for a $40,000 optional claimer at one mile on turf, including a pair of old rivals from Santa Anita, Mrs. Norris and Gone to Bali. None in the field has won on the turf, and among them they have made only five turf starts.

Seven rivals will be chasing the speedy Bombay Bob in race 5, a five-furlong, $5,000 maiden claimer.

Six of the eight runners in race 6 will be making their turf debuts in the maiden special weight race for 3-year-olds going one mile. One of those making his turf debut is Squidward, who has been the runner-up in all four career starts.

In race 7, a one-mile, $4,000 claimer, the dropping speedster Golden Dynamo will try to hold off Fort Cady, who just won his first start off a claim, and six others.

Ten $6,250 claimers compete in the final leg, race 8, a 1 1/8-mile turf test that appears to be wide open.

On Friday, there is also a $3,696 Super High 5 carryover in the final race.

On Saturday, there will be a $150,000 guarantee on an all-grass late pick four, and on Sunday, the guarantee on the late pick four will be $100,000.
