AUBURN, Wash. - Carrabelle Harbor made short work of six rivals Sunday in the $50,000 Angie C. Stakes for 2-year-fillies at Emerald Downs. A daughter of burgeoning stallion sensation Harbor the Gold, Carrabelle Harbor won for the second time in as many starts and did it easily, by 9-1/4 lengths. She ran six furlongs in 1:10.40 and paid $4. The Gang and I finished second, a neck ahead of Wings of Pegasus. Iforgottobeme, Giacomina, Boogie to Seattle, and Ms Moscow Mattie completed the order of finish. Harbor the Gold, a third-year stallion standing at Bar C Racing Stables in Hermiston, Ore., has been represented by seven stakes winners at the 2010 Emerald Downs meeting. Noosa Beach, from Harbor the Gold’s first crop, has won three stakes at the meeting and is expected to be among the favorites in the Grade 3 Longacres Mile on Aug. 22. Carrabelle Harbor likely would be an overwhelming favorite for trainer Doris Harwood if she starts in the $50,000 Barbara Shinpoch Stakes on Aug. 29, the next event for 2-year-old fillies on Emerald's stakes schedule. Owned by Bar C in partnership with Desert Rose Racing, Carrabelle Harbor captured the restricted Knights Choice Stakes by 1 1/4 lengths in her racing debut July 18. Her victory Sunday was worth $24,750 and increased her earnings to $41,271. Carrabelle Harbor was hesitant to enter the starting gate and took a couple of minutes to load, but acted like a seasoned pro for jockey Ricky Frazier once the starting gate sprung open. "The only mistake she made today was not getting in the gate," Frazier said. "Racing-wise, she was absolutely perfect. She broke sharp and switched leads when I asked her to."
