Carlea's Dream's Louisiana Cup Turf Classic win a coming-home present for jockey Wade

It was a special homecoming for jockey Lindey Wade on Saturday at Louisiana Downs.
Wade guided Carlea’s Dream to a length and a quarter victory in the $50,000 Louisiana Cup Turf Classic, one of six stakes on the card. The races were all for Louisiana-breds and worth a cumulative $300,000.
“This is home for me, where I grew up,” Wade said in a post-race interview broadcast by Louisiana Downs.
Wade said part of his day was spent catching up with old friends. From there, he went out and won the featured Turf Classic.
“This is just icing on the cake,” he said.
Carlea’s Dream ($5.80) was a 1 1/4-length winner over Britt’s a Closer. It was another length back in third to Mangelsen.
The winner covered a mile and a sixteenth on firm turf in 1:44.57. Karen Jacks trains the son of Lea for Carl Moore Management.
Double for Thornton
Jockey Timothy Thornton won the $50,000 Juvenile Fillies with Wholelottamo and the $50,000 Distaff with Net a Bear. The races were the first two stakes on the card.
Wholelottamo ($5.20) was a 2 1/2-length winner over Streak of Silver. She covered six furlongs on a fast track in 1:12.97. Scott Gelner trains the daughter of Mo Tom for Thompson Racing.
Net a Bear ($4.40) was up for a length win over Offspring in the $50,000 Distaff. It was another two lengths back in third to Fort Polk.
The winner covered a mile and a sixteenth for fillies and mares on turf in 1:45.01. Maximo Lamarche and Federico Deltoro own Net a Bear, a daughter of Awesome Bet trained by Allen Landry.
Landry also won the $50,000 Louisiana Cup Sprint with Chu Chu’s Legacy, who finished a length and a half clear of runner-up Scarlett’s Blackjack. It was another head back in third to Monte Man.
Chu Chu’s Legacy ($15.80) covered six furlongs in 1:10.76. He is a son of Bind, and he is owned by Landry.
Jockey Joe Stokes rode Chu Chu’s Legacy, one of two stakes wins he had on the card. He also captured the $50,000 Juvenile with True Deal. The horse won by a neck over Family Creed.
True Deal ($12.60) covered six furlongs in 1:12.97. The son of El Deal is owned by Norman Stables and trained by Lonnie Briley.
The card closed out with Strong Beauty ($10.80) darting to a 1 1/4-length win over Crescentcitypretty in the $50,000 Filly and Mare Sprint. It was another half-length back in third to Snowball. The winner covered six furlongs in 1:11.69.
Carlos Marquez was aboard Strong Beauty, a daughter of Overanalyze, for Golden Rock Thoroughbreds and trainer Ron Faucheux.
