ELMONT, N.Y. – Jockey Luis Cardenas, injured in a spill on July 16 at Saratoga, is still about two months away from returning to the saddle. Cardenas had a concussion and pain in his neck and back as a result of the spill at Saratoga. Cardenas said he is still experiencing soreness in his back and neck but is undergoing physical therapy. “I’m still a little bit sore in my back, that’s my main reason I’m going to therapy and to get my neck muscles a little stronger,” Cardenas said. “It’s been two months now, but I feel like my body is just coming back to me.” Cardenas said he hopes to return sometime at the Aqueduct fall meet. When he does, he will likely need a new agent. P.J. Campo, who handled his book, has picked up Javier Castellano, who recently split with Steve Rushing after just two meets. :: Bet the races with confidence on DRF Bets. I don’t blame him, I don’t blame anybody.” ◗ Jockey Manny Franco will serve a three-day suspension – Sunday, Thursday, and Friday – as the result of dropping an appeal for a careless riding suspension in race 11 on Aug. 27 at Saratoga.
