Cape Blanco to stand next year at Ashford Stud

Glenye Cain Oakford|Oct 11, 2011

Joe Hirsch Turf Classic winner Cape Blanco will enter stud next year at Ashford Stud, the Kentucky division of Cape Blanco’s co-owner Coolmore Stud.

Coolmore has yet to announce a stud fee for the 4-year-old, who is by its flagship sire Galileo.

Cape Blanco also won the Arlington Million and Man o’ War Stakes this year and the Irish Derby and Irish Champion Stakes last year.

Cape Blanco retired last week after his connections learned he had sustained a slab fracture of the knee after his Turf Classic win. His owners are Mrs. John Magnier, Derrick Smith, Michael Tabor – all Coolmore associates – and Mrs. Fitri Hay.
