Capar Girl wins stakes debut in New Start

Capar Girl, part of a strong coupled entry for owner Tom McClay, stepped up to stakes company to win the $75,000 New Start for Pennsylvania-bred 3-year-old fillies Friday at Penn National Race Course.
Ridden for the first time by Tammi Piermarini, Capar Girl ($4) rallied strongly in the stretch to overtake C R S Angels at the sixteenth pole and drew clear to score by two lengths. C R S Angels held off Rockin Jojo for second by a neck.
Trained by Bernie Houghton, Capar Girl ran six furlongs in 1:10.62 for her fourth win in 11 career starts. She was making her stakes debut after defeating open company in a first-level allowance sprint on May 16. The last time she ran against statebreds, she romped by eight lengths in March.
The other part of McClay’s entry, Kazuri, raced up close for the first quarter-mile before fading to fifth. She was coming off a win against open company in a first-level allowance and had finished second in last fall’s Blue Mountain Juvenile Fillies.
Danzig: Amplified stays unbeaten
McClay completed a sweep of the stakes for Pennsylvania-bred 3-year-olds when his colt Amplified cruised to a front-running, six-length victory in the $75,000 Danzig.
With Angel Rodriguez picking up the mount when Piermarini chose to stick with Delaware Park shipper Love Rules, Amplified ($14.20) dominated the race, running six furlongs in 1:09.35. Trained by Brandon Kulp, Amplified had defeated open company maidens at Parx Racing in his career debut, earning an impressive 86 Beyer Speed Figure.
The New York-based Instuctor Kunu finished second as the 7-5 favorite, 1 1/4 lengths in front of two-time stakes winner Duff.
